Indigenous Veterans Day

First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples have made countless invaluable contributions to Canada’s war efforts; such as, utilizing Cree and other Indigenous languages to encode military communication, knitting and donating clothes for soldiers, donating money, utilizing land-based knowledge, and much more.

On November 8th, we honor the 12,000+ Indigenous Veterans for their service and sacrifice, and how we may continue to move forward towards reconciliation.

Island Métis Family & Community Services Society will take part in honoring Indigenous Veterans by participating in a wreath laying ceremony:

Date: Sunday, November 8th

Time: 10:00 am

Venue: The Cenotaph, 698 Government Street, Victoria, BC

(In front of the BC Legislative Building)

Everyone is welcome to attend. There will be cedar-brushing and smudging present at the ceremony.
